The film you put in your camera may be a "positive" or a "negative". Colour negative film is what the average person would buy for their 35mm, APS, compact, or SLR camera. Negatives are used for printing photographs and have the colours reversed i.e. red is green, green is red, black is white etc. Positive films or "transparencies" have the same colours as the original image and can be used in the same cameras. Individual shots are normally mounted in small plastic frames known as "slides". Positive film is also known as "reversal" film. Films larger than 35 mm are known as "Medium Format" and transparencies are frequently used with these professional types of cameras. Hdi
scans all types of negatives at high resolution with the light source
projecting directly through the negative without any glass, acrylic,
oil or other material being placed in the path of the light between
the transparency, the light source or the scanner. We use the finest
lenses and scan up to approximately 6000 ppi (optical) i.e. without
any interpolation. |
